We, at Liam Mika, care deeply that the diamonds we use originate from ethically and environmentally responsible sources. We purchase all of our diamonds direct from manufacturers and we ensure that every manufacturer we use complies with all applicable ethical sourcing laws and use practices that respect the sustainability of their environment.
The success of our business depends on one of the earth’s most precious resources – diamonds. Nothing is more important than protecting the environment from which our diamonds come and the lives of the people who work to bring them to us.
What are Conflict Free Diamonds?
Conflict free diamonds are diamonds that are ethically mined and sourced. This means that during the journey from diamond mining through the delivery of the finished product, particular care has been take to ensure responsible business practices. In 2003, the United Nations established the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) as a measure against the import of blood diamonds. The KPCS outlines the regulations and requirements countries must follow to ensure a diamond is mined in a humane and legitimate way. All of the diamond manufacturers used at Liam Mika comply with the Kimberly Process.
Liam Mika diamonds are manufactured In Belgium, India, and Israel. We regularly travel to these countries to hand pick our diamonds. This personal relationship with our manufacturers allows us to understand their practices and be assured that they are providing not only the best quality stone, but one procured through ethically and environmentally sound practices.
